The ArrowJet Nova 250R allows the company to customize and brand all its labels on demand.
WeedMe has been known in the Canadian cannabis market since 2016 when founders Terry Kulaga and Benny Presman set out to become pioneers during a time when the cannabis industry was still up and coming. Fast forward almost eight years, and WeedMe is one of the most well-known cannabis brands in the Canadian market.
Within its 20,000 square-foot facility in Pickering, ON, the team at WeedMe cultivates, packages, and distributes its products to dispensaries across Canada. With over 150 unique strains and numerous different product lines, the team at WeedMe has its hands full with a complete range of cannabis products. In 2023, WeedMe put a substantial investment into its packaging department to reduce waste and increase efficiency. The company brought in the ArrowJet Nova 250R, which effectively allowed it to standardize production for all its labels.
With thousands of variations of labels, for hundreds of different styles of packaging, the only solution was to go with digital printing equipment. This equipment allowed the company to customize and brand all its labels on demand. These printers used pre-cut labels, which created issues with having to hold inventory and wasted label material when packaging design changes were made.
The ArrowJet Nova 250R is an all-in-one solution to printing and finishing labels on demand. It features eco-friendly water-based pigment inkjet technology with inline laser finishing to allow WeedMe to print and cut any design or shape on the fly.
“The introduction of the ArrowJet Nova has been a huge improvement on our workflow and inventory management,” says John Murray, print manager at WeedMe. “We used to have a bank of four different printers and would have to shift between different sized labels throughout the day. The ArrowJet Nova 250R has allowed us to standardize our material and print and cut what we need when we need it.”
The ArrowJet Nova 250R features a high-speed 125W laser finishing system that allows users to laminate, laser cut, remove waste, and slit in a single pass. This allows customers to shift away from costly pre-cut labels and cut out the exact shape they need from a continuous roll of label material.
The inline Memjet Duraflex print engine uses the latest water-based pigment ink technology, allowing for beautiful 1600 x 1600 dpi resolution to be printed on demand.
“We’ve seen a growing demand from the cannabis industry for the ArrowJet Nova 250R as companies look to save costs and increase efficiencies,” remarks Davis Tiburzi, sales manager, Arrow Systems, Inc. “The ArrowJet line is designed to increase production capacity while drastically reducing running costs by allowing the customer to print and cut, what they want when they need it.”
